Potters Drop Regular Season Finale

By Jordan Georgeson

The Lincoln Potters fell in their regular season finale last night against the Healdsburg Prune Packers. The Packers got on the board first with a big three-run first inning and then added three more in the top of the third. Lincoln added runs in the bottom of the third and fifth innings. Unfortunately, the Packers had a few big innings late and the Potters were unable to turn their hits into runs. Healdsburg held on to win by a score of 11-2. Both teams had their seeds for the CCL State Championship locked in prior to the game, with the Packers holding the first seed and the Potters holding the third seed.

Despite putting up just two runs, the Potters did have twelve hits in the ballgame. Daniel Susac and Jason Brandow each had an RBI in the contest, coming on a single and a fielder’s choice respectively. Temo Becerra, Garret Forrester, and Jason Brandow each had two hits last night as well. The Potters were able to load the bases three separate times in the game but were unable to bring runners across the plate. Lincoln left fifteen runners on base.

Lincoln threw several different arms at the Prune Packers last night, starting with their Sunday Starter Eli Garcia. Garcia was the pitcher on record for the Potters in his three innings pitched, where he allowed five hits and six runs with five earned. Garcia struck out three batters. Daniel Sotelo took over in the fifth and allowed five hits as well, with four runs scored, all earned. Skye Wells and Will Jaccobson each pitched an inning in the seventh and eighth and limited the Packers to just one run. The Potters’ RBI leader Quinton Hall made his pitching debut in the ninth, retiring the side in order for the Potters.

Lincoln is back in action with playoff baseball on Wednesday against the Arroyo Seco Saints of the CCL South Division. The entire CCL tournament will take place at McBean Stadium in Lincoln.
